Exploratory testing was always required. It&#039;s always been more effective.  Sadly, most companies wouldn&#039;t know, and are not in a position to gauge this since they (coupled with the dominant testing &#039;wisdom&#039;) made it extremely unpleasant for the kinds of people who excel at ET to hang around.  They can only baseline the performance of their test efforts against testers who&#039;ve been raised as scripters.</description>
