Based on my last couple of blogs you must have guessed it by now that how much I am interested in Social Media.

It is a great medium for interacting with one and all ‘on a personal level’.

All the major brands and companies are now using it for their marketing campaigns. Small businesses and individuals use it to sell their products and services as well. If you’re not online then no one knows you. Most traditional businesses are online as well now.

There are number of websites that could serve the purpose, if used efficiently. The websites like: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google Buzz are free and some of commonly used options for social media marketing.

These websites and third-party developers also provide tools that make creation and consumption of social media easier. Some of the tools that one should have in it’s kitty are: Tweetdeck, RSS readers, bit.ly, SocialMention, Tweetie.

There are also websites that provide lots of news articles on social media – mainly Mashable and ReadWriteWeb.

I am happy to provide any support in my capacity for coming up with Social Media Marketing strategies for your brand or products.

Get in Touch!

Three to four years ago the term ‘Social Media’ was rarely heard of. Though it had been around for quite a few years – it was actually Facebook and Twitter that took it to a different level.

Almost a year ago I did a bit of a research and a short presentation on some facts and numbers related to social media. Here is the copy of that presentation. These numbers are quite outdated and I am certain these must have multiplied manifold by now.

Source: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3154/2973684461_8ecfb1dd10.jpg

Here are some of the major events that have occurred around the world:

End of Hosni Mubarak as President of Egypt after almost 30 years

Protests in Libya

Earthquake in Christchurch

What’s common in all of these: Social Media.

Social Media was responsible for causing these protests in Egypt and Libya. Whereas news and video footage of Christchurch earthquake were posted online within few minutes, even before any news media could get there.

It is no more an optional thing. It has become quite a necessity now to be part of it. The more you resist it, the more you’ll be left behind.

So get online and get involved!

Happy Socializing!!

Apple’s iPod Update (NZ)

    * iTunes 9 with improved Genius (including Genius for Apps) and finally App organisation (you can arrange which screens apps will appear on before syncing to your iPhone or iPod Touch).
* iTunes LPs – single download (note: not this single-file format we’ve been hearing about), including photos, video, liner notes, lyrics.
* iPod Touch 8GB gets a price drop to NZ$349, and we get speedier 32GB and 64GB models for $519 and $699. Bear in mind you won’t get OpenGL|ES 2.0 on the $199 model, so we’ll see some game compatibility issues cropping up there I think.
* More games – notably Madden from EA and Assassin’s Creed.
* iPod Classic gets a capacity bump to 160GB for NZ$429
* iPod Shuffle gets colours at the standard $99 price, and a new “special edition” 4GB model for $129.
* iPod Nano is the biggest change-up, with video camera (640×480 resolution, so there’s no way it’s competing with the Flip-type HD cameras), and FM Radio (!). NZ$259 for the 8GB, and $318 for the 16GB models.

An Australian company uSocial.net charges you for spamming on Facebook and Twitter and find fans and friends for you.

Their charges are somthing like: from $177.30 for +1000 fans to $1167.30 for +10,000 fans. Interesting concept:

but are you really interested in those fans who just click “Accept” on any invite they receive on Facebook’s request page?

and if you really are then how much effort does it really take to invite 1000 friends?

and is that effort really worth that much money?

Well! may be it is for some non-techy people, but who is now not aware of Facebook or finds it difficult to use it? I don’t think anyone from the potential list of customers of uSocial. OR…

…May be Aussies!?!
